ADRA Albania

Our continuous exploration of the country brings direct economic benefits to the rural areas of Albania – given the fact that many of our tours are based and hosted in traditional village houses.

At the same time Outdoor Albania works hard for the environmental education of the locals, increasingly committing them to the protection of the Albanian natural and cultural heritance, towards a sustainable and developed eco-tourism future.

We support different projects contributing to different social levels in Albania.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian organization with a mission to work with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change. ADRA Albania belongs to the worldwide ADRA network comprised of 120 supporting and implementing country offices.

ADRA Albania mobilizes communities to take sustainable responsibility for society and environment.

ADRA’s five core sectors include Food; Security; Health; Economic Growth; Education; and Emergency Management. ADRA has developed its expertise in these sectors and in various subsectors, specifically in Education, Health, Economic Development and Emergency Management.

At the moment we are supporting two schools, Haxi Qira in the village of Borizane and the public middle high school in Thumana. Both schools are in poor condition. Together with ADRA we visited the schools on 28 June 2016 and looked on what help the schools need. The school will open again in September and we hope, that by than we will have collected  (some of) what they need.

The schools have very little means and no materials, therefore we are asking all our travellers, to help these schools with pencils (colors) paint, paper and toys. The kindergarten is in need of toys (4- and 5-year olds) as well as for blocks and lego. If you plan to come to Albania or your are travelling with us, you can leave the materials in our office, or give it to your tourleader. ADRA will come to our office on a regular basis to pick them up and bring them to the village!

The school also needs a front door, which will cost about 750 euro. An expensive cost, but very much needed to keep the properties of the schools protected. The schools have a lack of chairs and desks, as well as for severe problems with the sanitary means.
ADRA is trying to find funds to help fix these issues.
